Full Lips Make a Women Seem Younger, Scientists Say.

The most common things that come to mind when we think of the aging face is wrinkles, saggy skin and age spots. But did you know your lips age too? The lips of men and women reach their full volume in early adulthood. Then, for most people, they begin to shrink between the ages of 30 – 40 which prematurely ages a person. And there’s nothing much you can do to prevent this because it is determined by genetics instead of external factors like sun damage.

An international study funded by Unilever found that when scientists researched people who looked younger than their age, the biggest indicator was the shape of their lips. This emphasises why having a sexy pout like Scarlett Johansson and Angelina Jolie could be the key to concealing your real age.

Performing a lips augmentation procedure requires not only skill and understanding of the facial anatomy but also an artistic eye. It really gets me excited because I’m passionate about beauty and art. The most popular and safe way to restore youthful fullness to lips is to use a Hyaluronic Acid Filler. The Hyaluronic Acid is a substance that is naturally present in the body and acts as a scaffolding to plump up and support the lips immediately after being injected in.

When I perform this procedure, my goal is to create volume and a natural look of fullness so that the lips complement the face. The last thing a patient wants is the dreaded “duck face” where the lips stick out too far away from the face. So, I customise the treatment according to different lip shapes and sizes, depending on what the patient is looking for.

Fillers like Hyabell Malaysia contain Lidocaine (a medication to numb tissue) so no numbing cream or anaesthetic is required. Patients might feel a few pricks but other than some slight swelling and redness, they’re able to resume normal life immediately after the procedure.

In case a patient doesn’t like how their lips turned out, undoing the procedure is simple. Because Hyaluronic Acid is not permanent, an eraser enzyme called Hyaluronidase will be injected into the area and dissolve it in a few minutes. The lips will be back to its original state.

For the most natural results, I recommend increasing the lip size a little at a time. The filler lasts between 9 – 12 months but because Hyaluronic Acid promotes collagen at the injected site, your lips might remain a little larger even after this period.
